Board Game Stonesaga
The prehistoric era teaches that the power of tradition is worth more than gold, and the wisdom of a shaman can change the course of history. The walls of a native cave remember everything: victories, hunger, rituals under the starry sky. The stones are waiting to see what pattern will be engraved next.
This is a large-scale sandbox game in which a team of players will lead several generations of their tribe through the challenges of a fantasy prehistoric time.
Overcoming poverty, bad weather and predators, the tribe will explore new territories and mystical secrets, grow and develop depending on your choices and successes.
How to play
Your story in the Stone Saga universe begins with you creating a character and assigning his characteristics. During the game, this character will grow up and sooner or later die, turning into a legendary ancestor. You need to take care of your ward so that he does not die prematurely.
The general objectives of the game are dictated by the selected Challenge card, which contains a list of current and permanent goals. These cards encourage society to develop, but players shape their own path. Usually, achieving a certain number of goals leads to a successful completion of the game.
Information about the society is displayed on 4 tracks:
- Activity
- Experience
- Restlessness
- Population
The game lasts several rounds. Each round is divided into 2 phases:
- Day phase
- Night phase
During the day, players perform actions, spending energy, and at night they restore it. There are a lot of available actions, among the most relevant ones are:
- Movement. Regardless of whether the character moves to an already explored tile or not, this movement is accompanied by the drawing of a travel card — an event that occurs on the way.
- Processing resources, which makes them available for consumption or the manufacture of items.
- Production of items. Depending on the method of combining raw materials, a particular tool can be invented. Which one — players will find out by brute force.
- Construction of an outpost and structures that improve the standard of living.
Crafts include the action of preparing a shelter and the action of gathering resources, available on certain types of terrain:
- Fishing
- Food gathering
- Mining
Each of these crafts — various types of greed minigames that allow you to get useful resources or waste energy and get into trouble.
The Night Phase takes place in several consecutive steps. Before going to bed, it is advisable for characters to drink, eat, and also settle down not under the open sky. This will allow you to restore more energy and improve your well-being. Characters who have not received either water or food will, on the contrary, get injured.
Some items allow you to perform special night actions. During the Night Phase, you must play night event cards for each player. A new sign comes into effect. A quiet night brings additional energy. The tribe`s activity track increases, and then the population and unrest tracks are checked. If the game continues, a new day will dawn.
This is a large-scale legacy campaign in which a team overcomes resource crises, invents new tools, explores the surroundings, and leisurely shapes the history of their tribe generation after generation. This can be an ideal choice of co-op game to play in the evenings with your partner. The game contains much more than can be explored in a single playthrough. There is no irreversible damage to components in this legacy, so you can return to this world and rewrite its history from the first steps.
