That`s right, they will return to their everyday chores, helping their masters transport valuable goods! However, some merchants are showing excessive greed when making deals. Will they be able to transport all the purchased goods with their caravan, or will they lose everything before they make a profit? Take part in the most popular auction of the desert, show your skills and become the richest merchant in the Middle East!
Gameplay
The game will last several rounds until there are no more goods cards left in the Tower to replenish the markets. Shuffle the goods discard and fill the markets. This round will be the last in the game. The goal of the game is to earn as much money as possible during the game rounds. Each round consists of three phases.
1. Auction Phase. The top card in the Tower indicates the different auction conditions for that round. A list of special conditions can be found on a separate rules page. However, in most cases, a standard auction will be held, during which players first place closed bets, then open them. The winner of the standard auction is the player with the highest bid, and in case of a tie, the next highest bid wins. The winner receives the first player token and the right to first choose a market, then the choice is passed around the circle clockwise. Only the winner pays the cost of the bet to the bank, unless otherwise stated in the auction conditions.
2. Market Phase. During this phase, all players take turns to do the following:
- Choose a market and take all coins from it. Each player must choose their own market, which has not been chosen by anyone else in this round.
- If desired, activate the quality of the market. This action is the only optional one.
- Open the closed goods cards and take all the goods from the market.
- Place the received goods on their camels.
Each camel must carry goods of the same type. If you already have a camel that, for example, carries fruit, and you have collected fruit cards, you are obliged to place these cards on the same camel. In this way, the camel can be overloaded: the strength of the animal is indicated next to it on the board. If you have overloaded the camel, discard all cards from it, including the ones just added.
3. Selling phase. During this phase, players sell the goods cards from one camel. The rules for selling are described on the hint cards. There are four types of goods in the game:
- Dates can be sold in limited quantities
- Carpets can be sold in sets of 2, and the color of the carpets in the set must be different. There are 6 colors of carpets in the game.
- Amphoras can be sold in sets of 2 of the same shape. The game has amphoras of three shapes and cards that allow you to choose between two shapes.
- Fruit can be sold as a single card or as multiple cards of the same type of fruit. You should sell the cheaper types of fruit first. There are 4 types of fruit in the game.
After completing the third phase of the round, prepare for the next one: add one coin token to the market tile that no one has chosen this round, and turn the market tiles that were chosen this round face up and add the goods cards to them according to the number indicated on the tile.
Exciting Market Bidding
At the start of the round, players place bets to see who will choose the goods in the market first, with the betting rules set by the back of the highest goods card in the deck. The one who wins the bet pays their money to the bank, while the rest keep their coins. The winner of the bid chooses a market, uses the power of that market (if they want), then takes all the goods from that market, turns them face up (if necessary), and then loads the goods onto their camels. A camel can only hold goods of one type, and if a type of good is on a camel, you must continue to place that good on that camel. However, each camel has a limit of goods, and if you exceed this limit, you must discard all goods of that type.
Then each subsequent player in clockwise order selects an unselected market, uses its power if desired, and collects and loads goods. Each player then has the option to sell goods from no more than one camel.
