Card Adventures in Middle-earth
This is a cooperative card-based adventure game with extremely beautiful and atmospheric illustrations in the style of stained glass. The game invites you to embark on a journey described in the first part of J. R. R. Tolkien`s legendary trilogy "The Lord of the Rings". Together with friends or alone, you will develop the plot of this adventure, meet new characters and complete special tasks, step by step recreating the events of each chapter.
Thanks to several game modes and dozens of familiar characters, no gaming experience will be similar to the previous one, and the stylish design and unforgettable sense of adventure will give comfort and immerse you in the beloved atmosphere of Middle-earth every time.
Basic concepts
- Playing tricks. Playing tricks — is a popular mechanic used in many classic card games. A trick is formed when each player lays a card from his hand on the table, one of the players wins a trick and takes the cards.
- Chapters. Chapters — are scenarios that make up the story of the game. Each scenario lists the characters needed to play, special rules, and tasks. Although you can play through the chapters in any order, we recommend playing them sequentially.
- Cards. The main deck consists of cards in five suits — hills, mountains, forests, and shadows, each containing cards with values from 1 to 8. Rings — is a special suit that contains five cards. The character cards contain descriptions, tasks, and special preparations. In some scenarios, you will also use threat cards, which symbolize dangers that await the Fellowship of the Ring, gift cards, and event cards, but you will learn about them later.
- Gameplay Basics. After you have prepared for a chapter, the game begins. Each card deal is considered a round. During a round, players gradually play a certain number of tricks, trying to complete the tasks of all player characters. During the preparation and during the game, you can only discuss information that is available to all players, that is, you cannot show or discuss the cards in your hand.
- Game modes. In addition to the three- and four-player modes, «The Fellowship of the Ring» also offers two-player and solo modes with slightly modified rules. And the «The Road Runs Again...» mode allows you to continue playing after completing all chapters - the adventures in Middle-earth will never end!
