The previous issue of the series «Black Rose Wars» contains many mages and magic schools, the components of which can be combined with «Black Rose Wars - Rebirth».
Six magic schools will come together in an uncompromising battle for the throne of the Supreme Master of the Order. The first mage will receive a crown token, which gives the right to the last vote in ambiguous situations, until game effects lead to a change of owner. The playing field is a lodge, which consists of a cell, a throne room, a Black Rose room, and other rooms.
Gameplay
The game lasts for three phases of the moon, which change each other when the power token moves up the track to the required value. In each new phase of the moon, the task and event decks are replaced, and all mages receive a personal spell.
Black Rose Phase:
- The cards on the event board are shuffled, and if one of the cards ends up in the discard zone, the Black Rose gains power points from it.
- A new event from the deck is revealed and played, which also brings power points to the Black Rose.
- All event cards on the board related to the current phase are played.
- Each mage can get rid of one task card lying in front of him, and if he has no more tasks, he receives a new card. All players check their task card limit and discard any extra ones.
Training Phase:
- Each mage receives two spell cards, as well as 4 cards from the magic school decks from the library, of which they keep two for themselves. When adding 4 new cards to their hand, the mage may also destroy one spell card from their hand.
Planning Phase:
- The mage chooses 2 to 4 spell cards, each with double-sided text, and places them on their boards in any order they choose. The player always chooses which effect to play the card with face up.
Action Phase:
- Events related to the action phase are activated.
- One action token is played per turn, starting with the First Mage. This can be moving to rooms and activating them, attacking, summoning spell cards or avatar figures.
Apparent phase:
- The Black Rose avatars are activated, and then all the mage avatar figures in turn order.
Cleaning phase:
- Spell cards and stamina tokens from the mage tablets are reset to memories, and all avatars, action tokens, and room activation tokens are restored.
- The effects of the cleaning phase are activated.
- If necessary, rooms are restored.
- Mages receive points for the number of tokens in the rooms.
- If one of the power tokens reaches the Black Rose token, the game ends and the players check the points on the power tablet, count the number of completed tasks and trophy tokens.
If any of the players managed to score more power points than the Black Rose, then he is truly worthy of the title of Grand Master of Magic!
