Board Game Tantrix
This is a strategy board game where you place synthetic resin tiles on the table.
The game offers various ways to play and allows you to customize the difficulty level. You can create anything from simple puzzles to nearly impossible ones for solo play—letting everyone choose a challenge that matches their skill level. It also works well as a strategy game for groups.
Each hexagonal tile features three paths in three different colors (chosen from four possible colors). Each path starts on one side of the tile and ends on another.
Objective: Create the longest line or a closed loop of a single color of your choice. If you complete a closed loop, you score two points for each tile involved.
Each player holds 6 tiles face-up in front of them. On your turn, you must first place tiles in all "mandatory spots"—any empty space adjacent to at least three existing tiles. After placing a tile, draw a new one at random. Once all mandatory spots are filled, you may place a tile anywhere else possible. Then, you must fill any newly created mandatory spots, and so on.
To win, create mandatory spots strategically: force your opponent to extend your path while leaving yourself space to place more tiles. Remember, you are allowed to look at your opponents` tiles.
Make him use his trump cards on positions that benefit you!
The full game includes 56 tiles, but for the solo puzzle mode, as few as ten might be enough!
MECHANICS
- Tile Placement — players take turns placing tiles on the board, adhering to specific rules for matching edges or elements. The placement of each tile directly impacts future move options and the progression of the game.
- Pattern Building — players create specific shapes, layouts, or compositions using game components, aiming for maximum efficiency in their placement. Points or bonuses usually depend on how well the assembled pattern meets the required conditions.
You never know when or where spatial reasoning skills might come in handy! If you enjoy logic puzzles, take a look at this game. It appeals equally to those who prefer solving challenges at their own pace in solitude and to those who seek an open tactical face-off.
