Board Game Karak II
The earth trembled, the sky darkened, and fear hung in the air. But the warrior sat calmly on the ruins of Karak Castle, surveyed the surrounding landscape and sharpened his double-edged axe. No monster, no matter how terrifying, could scare him. No obstacle, no matter how great, could stop him.
A whole kingdom stretched above the mysterious dungeons of Karak Castle, and in it new terrible monsters and new reserves of gold, which the travelers of Karak have not yet reached. If you are ready for new feats, sharpen your arrows and hammers and forward to battle!
Having obtained enough resources, you can even found your own town with Stables, Shooting Ranges or the Wizard`s Tower. And the main goal of this dangerous journey – surpass your opponents in the number of victory points for the soul stones of the dark army obtained in battles.
This is a completely independent game that continues the plot of the first part, but has its own gameplay, and will be interesting to both fans of the first part and all lovers of adventures in dungeons.
Game progress
Players take turns performing two actions or more, if they have special improvements. Before performing each action, the hero can move to 1 adjacent cell, if he does not encounter an abyss.
During the game, the heroes will explore and expand the playing field, placing new tiles from the terrain pile. Monsters always appear on the new tiles, with which the hero must fight.
Possible hero actions:
- Battle with monsters – Roll the hero die and unit dice, add the power of your equipment, and cast spells to determine the hero`s overall attack power. Defeat forces the hero to return to the previous space, while victory grants certain resources or soul stones.
- Heal – restore 2 health points.
- Gather resources – obtain resources from a space that has no monsters.
- Build a city – pay 2 trees to establish a city on terrain that is free of monsters and other heroes.
- Build buildings – place any number of buildings in your city, paying their cost. Each of them has a special effect.
- Hiring troops – get new cubes of knights, archers or mages by paying their cost. To do this, you need to be in your city and have the appropriate building.
- Picking up items – pick up items abandoned on the tile and put them in your inventory.
- Eradicating the plague – While in the ruins of Karak Castle, restore all your health and get rid of all plague tokens in your city.
Plague and Poverty
If a player rolls two skull symbols on the dice during a battle, they do not lose two health points, but instead send the plague to another opponent of their choice. The victim must lose 1 each of food, wood, and stone, if they have any, and also place a plague token in their city.
New units cannot be hired in a plague-infected city. You can get rid of the plague token either in the Karak Castle Ruins location, or during a second plague if the active player chooses a different victim.
End of the game
While exploring new territories, the player may come across the Infernal Abyss, which awakens the Dark General. A successful battle with this monster ends the game, and the player who defeats it obtains the Arch Soul Stone. However, the winner of the game is still the traveler with the highest sum of victory points for soul stones.
