FOURTH EDITION OF THE CULT COSMOOPERA
The long-awaited fourth edition of the game "Twilight Imperium" includes strategy maps, galaxy tiles and all the races that were part of the third edition expansion. Reworked, improved rules and revolutionary mechanics allow you to significantly reduce the time of the party. The new edition has changed the principles of trading, the process of researching technologies, the policy stage, as well as how to place PSOs and more.
THE STRUGGLE FOR THE THRONE OF MECATOL-REX
The Great Twilight War is over. The surviving races spread out on their home worlds to lick their wounds. Relative peace reigned in the galaxy for several thousand years. It is a time of universal depression and decline. But no matter how dark the times, sooner or later there will be an era of recovery. Races began to rise from their knees, flex their militaristic muscles, and increasingly mention the void on the imperial throne.
The cherished throne on the planet Mecatol-Rex in the heart of the former Lazak Empire was beckoning more and more. Soon a new arms race started in the galaxy. Everyone started building armies and navies. However, the diplomats in the Galactic Council have not yet said their last word. Their voices still sound louder than guns. Who knows, maybe it will be easier to occupy the vacant throne through political intrigues and manipulations.
In the Twilight Imperium board game, players will have the opportunity to lead one of the seventeen major factions and fight for the imperial throne on Mecatol-Rex. During a truly epic game, players will be engaged in war, trade and diplomacy. Completed general and secret objectives will earn them victory points. The first to score ten victory points will win the game.
IGROLAD
First of all, players choose unique factions - Sol Federation, Hakan Emirates, Baronet Letnev, Sardakk N`orr, Kingdom of Kskscha, Jol-Nar Universities, etc. Players form a playing field from hexagonal system tiles and perform initial zones. The first player reveals several objective cards. After receiving one additional secret objective card each, the participants proceed to the game.
A round of play consists of four phases – strategy, action, status and session. In the strategy phase, players take turns selecting one strategy card from the general play area. Strategy cards give various bonuses in the action phase, for example, prevent opponents from attacking, allow you to research technology, build additional structures, get more goods, command tokens, action cards, etc.
In the action phase, players take basic actions. They take turns, according to the numbers on the selected strategy cards. An active player can perform one of the following actions:
If enemy troops meet in the active system, a battle begins. The space battle takes place in several stages. First, the squads use barrage fire, and then the players decide if they will retreat. Opponents roll dice for their ships. A hit is counted if the value on the die is not less than the combat value of the unit. Enemy ships take one damage per hit. Ground combat proceeds similarly - players make combat checks and deal damage to enemy units.
In the status phase, players can complete one general objective and one secret objective each. They draw cards, return order tokens, and repair damaged units. The Meeting Phase is initiated by the removed guard token from the planet Mecatol-Rex. Players gather the Galactic Council and with the help of the meeting cards, they make decisions.
After the meeting phase, a new round begins. The game continues until someone scores ten victory points. The game may end early if there are no more objective cards left to reveal. In this case, the player with the most victory points wins.
