MAFIUS EURO BASED ON THE MOTIVES OF «THE GODFATHER»
A fascinating economic strategy based on the epic film saga and a series of novels by Mario Puzo of the same name. This is a juicy atmospheric euro with a high level of conflict. Players are invited to lead mafia families and fight for power over New York in the 50s.
During the game, participants will capture districts, collect tribute from local businessmen, receive illegal goods, launder money and carry out «delicate assignments» of Don Vito Corleone. In the end, it all comes down to money, and in this game the richest player wins.
INCREDIBLE COMPONENTS
As for the game components, the game is capable of surprising even the most experienced players. First of all, these are more than three dozen highly detailed miniatures. And if the foot gangsters are no different from each other, being typical thugs with "Tommy Guns", then all the other figures - dons and consigliere, heirs and accomplices - are real works of art.
The figure of Don Vito Corleone is used as a round counter, the police car is a marker of the current phase, and the first player`s token is made in the form of a severed horse`s head. But the tin suitcases for storing laundered money and completed assignments are the most impressive. By and large, these are all the same screens, but more advanced, convenient and compact. You haven`t seen anything like this anywhere, in any game.
GAME PROCESS
Before the start of each round, a new location on the map opens. Players take turns starting with the first player. The first player`s token is not passed around the circle, as usual, but is extracted from a special location. On his turn, a player can place a thug, a family member, play an ally card, or fulfill the don`s order. When the player`s supply runs out, he must pass.
PLACEMENT OF FIGURES
All miniatures are placed on unoccupied spaces. Thug figures are placed directly in the location and bring bonuses indicated at the bottom of the tile. At the same time, the player who controls this area also receives bonuses. Family member figures are placed in special places between areas. They allow you to collect tribute from all locations in the surrounding areas. Bonuses for family members are listed at the top of each location tile.
FULFILLING ORDERS
To complete a Don`s order, you must discard the illegal goods listed on the card, then receive a cash reward, apply the card`s effect, and place it in your suitcase. Drugs are a wild card that replaces any type of goods. Orders are colored. Gray ones generally allow you to eliminate enemy figures, yellow ones usually force opponents to part with their loot, and green ones allow you to receive additional bonuses in the city.
TERRITORY WAR
When all players pass, a territory war begins. Players move through all the districts of New York and count the number of figures. The player with the most thugs and family members places a territory control marker in that district. If there are multiple markers in a district, only the top marker counts for control.
BRIBERY AND BRIBERY PHASE
During the Bribery Phase, players place bets to gain the support of influential people - the mayor, police chief, union leader, bookmaker, etc. Players set aside their cards from their hand, open their suitcases, and place laundered money under the lid of the suitcase. The bets are displayed simultaneously. The player who placed the most bets first chooses an accomplice card.
During the Don Corleone Offering phase, players discard excess cards from their hand, return figures from the field to their reserve, update available mission cards, and place new mission cards. After that, a new round begins.
END OF THE GAME
The game ends after the fourth round. Players count the laundered money in their suitcases, then receive five dollars for dominating districts and five dollars for completing the most missions of a particular color. The richest player is declared the winner.
A player dominates a district if he has more control markers. In the event of an equal number, the player whose marker is higher in the pile dominates. Completed missions are sorted by color. Players compare their results for each color, and the one who completed more assignments receives five dollars.
INDIVIDUABLE ALLOY MECHANICS
Finally, we would like to note that the game has implemented a very cool transition from placing "workers" to controlling territories. The two different phases successfully complement and are interconnected: when placing workers, players receive bonuses from controlling territories, and vice versa - strategically placing figures will allow you to gain control of the area.
