Back in 1620, a ship called the «Mayflower» arrived in the United States. The first Pilgrim settlers for New England arrived on board this ship, who began to build colonies on the territory of North America. These are all pages of history that have long been passed. But nothing prevents you from writing your story in board games! Build your settlement in close competition with your neighbors in a board game. Make good use of every person and every resource at your disposal.
Place your bets, gentlemen!
Welcome to the world created by game designers Sebastian Bleasdale and Richard Breeze. Here, players will develop their settlements, bid on tiles, use them, and try to earn as many victory points as possible at the end of the game for the tiles placed in their settlements and for the gold they receive.
The game will last 4 seasons. Each player starts the game with only one house tile, as well as a random set of kipls (the local name for the familiar ``meeples`` workers). Also, players receive winter tiles, which, as a rule, will allow you to plan your actions in order to better earn victory points.
Each time, you have the choice of using your kiples behind the screen (opponents must not see your kiples or skill tokens) or from a broken bid:
There is an important rule for both options: on or around the tile to be used (where betting takes place), the tiles must always be of the same color. For this, there are 4 types of boils in the game: blue, red, yellow and green. So you can kindly spoil the plans of your opponents if they don`t have the right color!
More about local colonization
Everything is simple with rates — place kibbles on your side of the hex tile. Each new bid must be greater than any other bid already available here. If your bet is killed, all the chips from it can go to another bet or to use some tile (but it is forbidden to divide them).
Let`s not say that it becomes more difficult with the use of tiles — it just adds a lot of options. One tile can be used by several players (even other players can visit your settlement). It is important that for each subsequent use of the tile, at least 1 cup more than the previous use is sent. Yes, the 1st player can send one meeple, the 2nd — two, and the 3rd — three More than 6 meeples cannot be on a tile. But nothing prevents you from sending, for example, 3 meeples at once, so that no one else uses this tile…
What do local tiles provide? Resources, victory points, kibbles, the ability to move resources between tiles, and the ability to upgrade tiles for greater benefit. Each tile is unique, so learning the interaction between them will be a lot!
At the end of each season, players collect the tiles they have won bets on, determine turn order for the next season, and receive workers and skill tokens from newly arrived boats. Importantly, kipls from broken bets, kipls in your village, and kipls on tiles you won go behind your screen (as opposed to kipls won by bets). In winter, no kipils arrive — instead, you will pick up the boat tiles and place them in your village.
At the end of the fourth season, players receive victory points for tiles in their villages, as well as gold chips. The player with the best score wins and has the best village until you play a new game.
New settlers arrived on legendary boats
"Keyflower" — it is a world classic among strategies. Unlike many representatives of the genre, the game has a high level of interaction, so you have to constantly adapt to the situation. The game allows you to try new strategies every time, and also forces you to use your brain to find optimal ways to get the necessary resources or kippels. Clear mechanics and a dynamic situation at the table — this is the secret to the success of a game that has long held its place among the best in the world.
