Coffee consumption has long been an integral part of human culture, and finally players have the opportunity to act as managers of companies that grow, dry, roast and deliver coffee beans to the most exquisite coffee shops in Portugal.
The Truth in the Beans
If you are interested in the process of processing coffee beans almost as much as board games, then before you is a "combo", seasoned with elegant atmospheric illustrations that will not leave any coffee lover indifferent, and original game mechanics that will delight board game enthusiasts.
At the beginning of the game, each player receives 4 cubes of coffee of different colors, which the company keeps in its warehouse, as well as one action point. The initial plan cards are placed in the players` playing areas.
Player`s Turn
- The first player (the master) reveals three new plan cards from the deck and offers each player following clockwise to take or buy one of these cards. After each player makes a choice, a new card is revealed. The master is the last to make his choice from the three cards.
- The card can be taken for free (if it does not have a cup symbol on it), or for 1 coffee cube. If a player already has two visible ship symbols in the business area, he does not pay for the card with the cup symbol. If the player cannot get a card, he still chooses one of the cards and sends it to the discard pile. This way, the deck will always be emptied evenly and the game will last 8 rounds (until the deck runs out).
- Players who receive cards place them in their business area, closing from 2 to 4 sections on previously played cards, and can perform from 1 to 8 actions depending on their level (at the beginning of the game, all players have only one action point).
Available actions
- Growing. The player places a coffee cube from his supply on one or more adjacent empty sections with a coffee bean symbol of the corresponding color (symbol A on the cards).
- Drying. The player takes all cubes of the same color from one or more growing sections and places them on one empty drying section (symbol B on the cards). If the player has other drying sections located horizontally or vertically, then with one action he can move cubes of a different color to them.
- Roasting. The player takes all cubes of the same color from one or more drying sections and places them on one empty roasting section (symbol B on the cards). If the player has other roasting sections located horizontally or vertically, then with one action he can move cubes of a different color to them.
- Delivery. The player takes all cubes from the roasting sections of his choice and delivers them to one or more coffee shops in his business district (symbol G on the cards) or to his warehouse. The cubes that need to be delivered to the warehouse or coffee shop are depicted on the cards and will bring victory points, with which the players determine the winner after the end of the 8th round.
The board game includes a standard, extended and solo version of the game, as well as the expansion «Espresso». A nice bonus in the game set are cards with the image of the Lviv Coffee Mine and the famous coffee shop «Atlas».
