This is a card-based strategy horror game about bizarre fishing, inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Herman Melville.
You will have to spend a hard week, competing with other fishermen for the best catch, while suppressing your regret and monitoring the level of your own madness. Each day you will fish in local waters or spend time in the port, engaged in selling your catch, looking for new equipment or pouring your eyes in the tavern in the hope of forgetting your sorrows. The victory will be won by the fisherman whose catch turns out to be the most valuable, and whose mind — the soundest.
Game rules
Players will spend 6 days (rounds) as captains of their own ships. Each round, excluding the preparation of energy cubes, fishing gear, and manipulation of components on the table, begins with each fisherman announcing whether he will go fishing or stay in port.
Most rounds will take place in the open water, where you will catch familiar or terrifying creatures at 3 different depths, represented as cards on the ocean board. Starting at the shallowest depth, you will choose one fishing spot card at a time, based on the shadow of the creature emerging from the water column. Enjoy a catch of familiar size or challenge a larger creature - the choice is yours. After choosing a card, it is turned over, thereby revealing the creature. Some animals may have certain effects that need to be played either immediately upon discovery or during capture.
So, now this aquatic creature can be caught by paying the amount of energy indicated on the card from the player`s energy cubes, or discard the creature, leaving it lying in its place. If there is enough energy - congratulations, the day was not spent in vain. If not - spend one energy cube and take at least some fry from a separate deck. Such cards can hardly be called a catch, but they will come in handy the next time you go to sea or in the port.
Want to see what is hidden in the depths? Spend a cube, drop anchor and submerge the dome, but be prepared to meet more strange... fish.
So what`s with the port? Return there if you wish to do any of the following:
The horrors you see weigh on your mind. Draw Pity cards every time you catch, eat, or sell something gruesome. The player with the most Pity cards at the end of the game must discard their most valuable catch. The more Pity you have, the deeper you slide into the clutches of madness. This affects the prices of fish and gives you more freedom, but be extremely careful with this, as controlling Pity will become even more difficult.
At the end of day 6, players calculate victory points. They are influenced by the creature cards in your hand, trophies, Regret cards, and whether you abandoned your ship during the game. The one who scored the most points wins.
Discover a journey into a world of sea monsters and personal demons.
The dynamic and exciting gameplay will immerse you in the eerie waters of Lovecraftian fantasies, in which you should be extremely careful, because between regret and madness — one step. The game will definitely appeal to fans of management, collecting sets, and those who do not shy away from elements of randomness and unpredictability.
