Board Game Dorfromantik
Views
This is a cooperative board game adaptation of a video game that has been based on tabletop mechanics from the beginning with the creation of a field from terrain tiles. In this tabletop strategy, you will add new areas to the map to complete tasks, open boxes with new components thanks to the inheritance mechanic, and enjoy rural landscapes and dizzying gameplay. If you are looking for a meditative co-play experience, we recommend trying this game with friends.
Preparation for the game
The more victory points you earn, the more new boxes you will be able to open. In turn, each new box not only adds more new ingredients, but can also expand the basic mechanics, so the cooking can change slightly in response to your progress.
- Shuffle all the quest tiles face down and place them on the table in any number of face down stacks.
- Now shuffle all the landscape tiles and remove three random tiles back to the box. Place the remaining tiles face down on the table in any number of stacks separate from the quest tiles.
- Shuffle the 25 quest markers and sort them by color or type. Place them face down near the quest tile stacks.
- Choose the first player and start the game!
Gameplay
All players take turns in a clockwise direction, starting with the first player. Your overall goal in the game is to score as many victory points as possible, and to do this you will collect the longest roads and rivers and complete tasks from the corresponding tiles.
On your turn, a player must take a terrain or task tile and add it to the ones on the board according to their placement rules. During the first three turns, players are required to add at least one task tile to the board.
The general rules for placing tiles are as follows:
- Roads and rivers must not be interrupted. The rest of the territories can have any shape.
- If you take a task tile, after revealing its face up, you will see that on the back it is not much different from the territory tile. Place it as usual, but immediately add a task marker of the appropriate type to it: this task indicates how many tiles the corresponding area/river/road starting from the task tile must occupy before you close it.
- You cannot add a tile in such a way that the area becomes larger than the task requirement.
- You cannot close (surround on all sides with tiles in such a way that the area cannot be expanded with new tiles) an area that the task requirement requires to be larger.
- You can only add a new task tile to the area if the new task marker has a higher requirement than the previous one. Remove the previous marker with a lower requirement.
- After completing the task, remove the marker from the tile and set it aside separately with other completed tasks. The task can be completed even on the turn in which you placed the tile for this task.
- The flag tiles should be placed according to the usual rules, but remember that at the end of the game, territories with a flag will only bring victory points if they are closed.
The game ends as soon as the last territory tile is placed. After that, the victory points that can be obtained for completed tasks, the longest track and river, closed territories with flags and any additional components that you have unlocked from the campaign sheet continue to be counted.
