Board Game B Movies - Invasion of the Jelly Tentacles from a Lost World
A fun party game about making movies. This is a very stylish and fun company filler that will please both movie buffs and ordinary board game lovers. The game is perfect for entertaining friends who have gathered to watch a movie or celebrate something.
In this board game, participants will be able to become screenwriters and try to interest picky producers with their brilliant ideas. To get the green light, you will have to show ingenuity and imagination. For variety, players are offered several modes - competitive, team and cooperative. The box also includes the Kickstarter expansion "Horror".
A game for a company about making films
At the beginning of the game, participants receive voting cards ("No", "Yes", "Yes!") and 5 random movie cards from a deck. Players take turns, clockwise. On their turn, the player becomes the screenwriter. Their goal – present the film idea to other players (producers), who can either reject the project or give it the green light.
- Presentation
The screenwriter lays out 2-4 movie cards from his hand in the chosen order, forming the name of the film.
- Voting
The producers secretly choose 1 card to vote on and reveal them simultaneously.
- If the majority voted "No", the screenwriter discards the laid out movie cards, and each producer who voted "No" takes a random popcorn token from the box.
- If the "Yes"/"Yes!" cards as many or more as there are "No" cards, the film idea is approved! The screenwriter places the displayed movie cards in a pile in front of him. Each producer who voted "Yes" takes 1 popcorn token. Each producer who voted "Yes!" takes 1 popcorn token for each displayed movie card. Anyone who chose a "Yes!" card removes it from the game, regardless of the vote result.
At the end of the game, players score 1 point for each movie card of the approved movie and add up the values on the popcorn tokens they received. The player with the most points wins.
"Secret Team" Mode
At the beginning of the game, participants receive secret studio cards. The game continues as usual. At the end of the game, the players reveal the secret studio cards. All players with the same studio cards belong to the same team. They add up all the points scored by the team members. If a player does not have a team because they received a random studio card, they double their score. The player or team of players with the most points wins.
Cooperative mode
At the beginning of the game, the players receive popcorn tokens. One player (the director of the film studio) lays out 1 movie card from his hand and announces the name of the film according to the text and illustration. The other players take turns, clockwise, performing one of two actions:
- Write a script. Lay a movie card from his hand face up in the center of the table and come up with 1 sentence that relates to the illustration or text on the card and develops the plot of the film.
- Skip a turn. Place the movie card from your hand face down in the center of the table. The next player goes next.
If a player decides to write a script, all other players, including the studio director, evaluate their work. Each player chooses a card to vote on and reveals it at the same time as everyone else.
- If the majority voted "No", each player who voted "Yes" discards 1 popcorn token.
- If there are as many "Yes" cards as there are "No" cards, the player places the approved movie card face up in front of them and takes 1 popcorn token. Each player who voted "No" discards 1 popcorn token.
Play continues until the players run out of movie cards or each player has several approved movie cards. At the end of the game, players receive 2 points for approved movie cards and 1 point for each popcorn token they have. The player with the most points wins.
