COOPERATIVE CARD GAME
This is a live card game that offers participants to go through a campaign in cooperative mode. Players have to collect evidence, solve mystical mysteries and fight terrible creatures. During the game, participants will constantly find themselves facing plot forks. The decisions made and the results of the scenario affect the course of the entire story. When successfully completing tasks and achieving goals, players receive experience points that they can spend on upgrading their personal decks.
ARKHAM HORRORS
The events of the game take place in the famous city of Arkham and its surroundings. Participants choose detectives with unique abilities and characteristics, and then create personal game decks. In the base game, there are 5 detectives - federal agent Roland Banks, vagrant Wendy Adams, librarian Daisy Walker, former criminal Scat O`Toole, and waitress-witch Agnes Baker.
The players` personal decks consist of cards of assets, skills, events, and weaknesses, which represent misfortunes of the past. The cards can be played in the usual way, paying their cost with resources, or used when passing tests.
The playing field is formed from location cards, which lie face down. Upon entering the location, the detective turns the card over, reads the text on it, and lays out the specified amount of evidence. The location card depicts symbols of related locations where the detectives can go.
The selected scenario is divided into two decks of cards - goals-scenes and evil intentions. Each scene requires collecting a certain amount of evidence. The investigators must complete all objectives before the last plan card is revealed. This is the only way to win the game.
ROUND PHASES AND SKILL CHECKS
A game round consists of four phases - Myth, investigators, enemies, and rest. During the investigator phase, players can take up to three actions - move to a related location, explore the current location, get one card, get one resource, activate an action on a card, play an asset or event card from their hand, lure an enemy to them, fight an enemy, or flee from an enemy.
During the game, players constantly pass skill checks - intelligence, strength, willpower, and agility. The investigator plays any number of cards from his hand that have the required experience symbols on them and increases the value of the skill. Other investigators in the same location have the right to help a colleague by playing one card each.
Then the subject takes one chaos token from the bag. Numeric chaos tokens, as a rule, change the final result to a lower side. A token with a tentacle symbol leads to an instant failure. A pentagram forces the investigator to refer to his personal card. The meaning of other symbols is determined by a specific scenario. To pass the check, the final skill value must be at least equal to the check parameter.
To play an asset or event card, you must pay the amount of resources indicated on the card. When exploring a location, the investigator passes an intelligence check, and if successful, receives one proof. During combat, a strength check is made. The detective can also try to escape from the enemy by passing a Dexterity check.
During the Enemies phase, the forces of evil move between locations and attack the investigators, simultaneously inflicting wounds and reducing consciousness. During the Rest phase, the played cards are refreshed (returned), the investigators receive one resource each and draw one card from their personal decks.
During the Myth phase, a dead end token is placed on the plan card and the investigators draw one card from the contact deck. If it is a misfortune card, the investigator applies its effect. If it is an enemy, the investigator is forced to fight it. Players must reveal the next plan card if the number of dead end tokens in play becomes equal to the value indicated on the current plan card. When the investigators reveal the last plan card, they fail the game.
