This is a reprint of the popular adventure deckbuilding game by Rainer Knitzia in a new stylish design by Vincent Dutre.
Deckbuilding Races
Take your cards and go to South America in search of the legendary El Dorado!
Before the game starts, a track is assembled from hexagonal field tiles, obstacle strips are laid out on the edges of the tiles, and cave tokens are placed on the black terrain cells. There are 7 field tiles in the game, and they are double-sided, so there are a lot of track options, to which you can add two terrain strips with additional cells. Players receive figures of their color and place them on starting positions.
The goal of the game is to reach El Dorado on the last track tile before their opponents!
Players start with weak personal decks consisting of eight cards - 1 blue pilot, 3 green explorers and 4 yellow travelers. During the game, they will be able to upgrade their decks by adding strong cards from the market and clearing them of weak cards. During preparation, each player draws four cards into his hand.
Game progress
Participants take turns. On their turn, a player:
To move their meeples to an adjacent free cell, a player must use a card of the same color with the required number of terrain difficulty points. To overcome an obstacle, you also need to pay its cost in points (after which the player takes the obstacle token for himself).
In the game, you will encounter several types of terrain of different colors, which will have their own conditions for moving:
To buy a card on the market, you need to spend the required number of cards with coin symbols. The cost of any other card is 1 or 2 coins. Players will first buy cards from the bottom row, and when it runs out, they move on to the next row. The purchased cards are sent to the discard pile.
Cards with red crosses are disposable. After being used, they are removed from the game.
All played and unplayed cards, except those removed from the game, are sent to the player`s discard pile.
The player draws 4 cards from the deck into his hand. If the deck runs out, the cards from the discard pile form a new deck. At the same time, new cards that you have acquired during the game will also be added to your deck.
End of the game
When a player`s meeple reaches the finish line on the last tile of the legendary El Dorado, he ends the game. The participants following him in turn take one more turn until the turn comes back to the first player. The participant who reaches the finish line wins, and if there are several of them, the one who has collected the most obstacle tokens wins.
