A fast-paced adventure game with the mechanics of "discover and draw". This beautiful drawing filler is ideal for an interesting pastime with family members or friends and will entertain both beginners and experienced players.
Paths between villages and landmarks on the island
In the game, each player receives a map of a tropical island, on which villages, landmarks and different types of terrain are marked. Each turn, the mayor reveals two random terrain cards. Each player looks for the corresponding cells on his map and draws a path between them. If this path connects the villages and landmarks, the player scores points. The game lasts several rounds, the player with the most points wins.
At the beginning of the game, players choose an island on which to draw paths – Small Toucan (the game lasts 2 rounds) or Big Toucan (the game lasts 3 rounds). They appoint a mayor – a player who will reveal the cards during the game. The mayor shuffles the terrain cards and places the deck in front of him.
He then takes a random scenario card and announces the letters on it. All players, starting with the mayor, write these letters next to their villages on the maps clockwise in the order announced by the mayor. To ensure that players have different maps, the mayor starts by writing the letters from his first village, the second player – from the second village, the third player – from the third, etc. Finally, the mayor lays out the blue bonus cards. Players can also use 1 or 2 red bonus cards, which give bonus points to the player who connects the depicted landmarks first.
Game progress
Each time, the mayor reveals the top two cards from the deck and announces the terrain depicted on them - deserts, forests, mountains, reservoirs or universal. All players connect the centers of two adjacent cells that correspond to the announced terrain with paths. If a universal terrain is announced, any terrain can be chosen.
Then the mayor reveals the next pair of cards. All players draw paths. The round ends when only 1 card remains in the deck.
After connecting a landmark (obelisk, book, toucan, bigfoot, or sea monster) to any of the ten villages, the player circles the left cell next to that landmark in the landmark points section. Having connected the second such landmark to any village, the player circles the right cell next to this landmark and immediately (in the same turn) draws one additional path between any two adjacent cells.
Having connected two villages with the same letters (a pair of villages) with a path, the player circles the cell next to this letter in the village points section. A player can score points for each pair of villages only once per game.
Blue bonus cards. The first player to connect a pair of villages scores the bonus points indicated on the bonus card for this letter. Record the points earned in the empty cell of the bonus points section, then discard the bonus card.
End of the round
The round ends when only one card remains in the deck. The last card is not played. Each player adds up the circled points for the landmarks and writes the sum in the first cell (marked with an "I") of the final result section.
Then all the terrain cards are shuffled (along with the remaining card). The second round begins. After the second round, players add up the circled points for the landmarks again and write the sums in the second cell (marked "II") in the final result section.
End of the game
The game ends after the second round. Players add up all their points and write the sums in the final result section.
Total points for landmarks (for both rounds)
+ Total points for villages
+ Total bonus points
= Final result
The player with the most points wins.
