Board Game The Loop
A deck-building cooperative game about the fight against a supervillain who seeks to take over the universe. The insidious Dr. Hiba creates time loops and rifts in quantum space. Becoming agents of time, the participants will try to stop the mad doctor before his terrible machine destroys the world.
Agents of time vs. mad scientist
Dr. Hiba`s experiments have led to the appearance of threatening vortices in the fabric of space-time. If he is not stopped, collapse is inevitable! Therefore, the brave agents of time take up the job.
At the beginning of the game, each of the participants chooses his agent with a unique deck of artifacts and his own style of fighting evil geniuses. You will have only three time cycles, during which you will need to archive 4 sabotage tiles and prevent the formation of vortices at all costs!
The course of the game
The participants take turns, clockwise. The player`s turn consists of the following phases:
- Hyba`s phase
You need to take clones from the bag and add them to the corresponding eras on the field. After that, in the specified era, you need to lay out a new artifact card from the general deck.
Next, the player reveals the Dr. Hyba card, directs the cockpit (middle chute) of the Machine to the specified era and throws the rupture cubes into the Machine. The rupture cubes roll out along the chutes to different eras. If there are more rupture cubes than free cells in an era, a vortex is formed in it. Then the players say goodbye to the sabotage tile and discard the available cards.
- Action Phase
A player can perform the following actions (any number of times and in any order):
- Move. The player spends an energy cube from his era and moves his agent token to an adjacent era. By turning over his agent tile, he can make one free move.
- Play a card from his hand. The player returns a prepared (lying upright) card to his hand and applies effects. With the help of cards, you can add energy to the field, eliminate ruptures, move clones, his agent, etc.
- Create a LOOP. The player spends an energy cube from his era and turns vertically (prepares) cards of one chosen dimension. Creating each subsequent loop this turn costs 1 more energy.
In addition to these actions, the player can use his agent`s special ability.
If the player fulfills the conditions of one or two open missions, he damages the corresponding sabotage tile and places cubes on it.
- Add Card to Deck Phase
The player can take an available artifact card in the current era, placing it on top of his deck.
- Archive Sabotage Tile Phase
If a sabotage tile has been damaged enough, the player removes it from the field. After archiving the sabotage tile, all players are rewarded with one card and put it on top of their decks.
- End of Turn Phase
The player turns over their agent tile and discards the cards from their hand. All players draw cards from their decks to have exactly 3 cards in their hand.
If Dr. Hiba`s deck runs out, the discarded cards are shuffled into a new deck. A new cycle begins for Dr. Hyba.
Victory and Loss
Players win if they manage to archive 4 sabotage tiles.
Everyone loses if:
- a second vortex forms in the same epoch;
- a fourth vortex forms on the field;
- the 3rd cycle ends and the players have not managed to archive 4 sabotage tiles.
