Board Game Oriflamme

A fast-paced card game about the struggle for the French crown. This simple game of bluffing and planning is suitable for friendly or family gatherings. It will appeal to all participants, regardless of age or gaming experience.

Fight for the throne

The French king died without leaving an heir. Players become the heads of influential families fighting for the crown.

The Oriflamme ("Golden Flame") is the standard of the French kings, the main military banner of the royal troops.

Game progress

The participants in the game receive 1 influence token and identical sets of 10 character cards. 3 random cards are set aside, they are not used in the game.

The game lasts 6 rounds. Each round consists of 2 phases:

1. Planning Phase

Players take turns placing cards in a single row face down. A card can be placed at the beginning of the row, at the end of the row, or on top of another card from their family.

2. Event Phase

Cards are played in turn. The owner of a face down card can either leave it as is, placing 1 influence token from the supply on it, or turn the card over and apply its effect (he takes all the influence tokens from this card). After the top card in the pile is revealed, the lower cards become inaccessible. If the card is already face down, the player applies its effect.

At the end of the round, the cards and tokens in the row remain in their places.

Effects of intrigue and character cards

• Lord. Brings 1 point of influence for each adjacent card of his family.
• Archer. Removes the first or last card in the row.
• Heir. Brings 2 points of influence, if there are no other heirs in the row.
• Werewolf. Copies the effect of the adjacent card.
• Soldier. Removes the adjacent card.
• Spy. Steals 1 influence point from the player whose card is next to it.
• Conspiracy. Doubles the influence points accumulated on this card.
• Ambush. Gives 1 influence point. If this card was removed by another character`s card, gives 4 influence points.
• Royal Decree. Moves any card in the row to a new place.
• Poison. Removes any card from the event row.

End of the game

The game ends after the 6th round. Players count their influence points. The one with the most points wins.
