Board Game MLEM - Space Agency
Welcome to the space agency… cats!
Have you ever thought that your purring friends can not only make «mnyav» and «mlem», but also want to conquer the world? Or even… THE UNIVERSE? We offer you this attempt at prediction: in the near future, shortly after the conquest of the Earth, cats have set their sights on a new frontier - the conquest of space! Cute fluffy astronauts, warmed up by catnip, arrange a fierce race to conquer galaxies. However, cats are known not only for their grace, but also sometimes for their clumsiness, which can cause certain cosmic CATStrophes…
This is an exciting and extremely cute family game with dice rolling and luck-testing mechanics. Players, as the heads of cat aeronautics and space research centers, will send their furry subjects on a rocket, control it on a journey through space, land cats on moons and planets in order to score the most victory points at the end of the game.
Super cute design, fun competitive gameplay and high-quality components, including a long play mat, will not leave anyone indifferent.
Gameplay overview
The game consists of a series of consecutive space expeditions, during which you will decide which of your astronauts to send into space. Each of them has special skills that can be used to your advantage. The further you send your astronauts, the more points you will get, but the rocket with your astronauts can crash and your plans - to collapse.
Each space expedition consists of a takeoff phase, a travel phase, and a landing phase:
- Takeoff phase. The player who starts the expedition places the rocket marker on the "0" space mat. He then chooses one of his astronauts and places this token on the first space of the rocket field. Then, clockwise, each player chooses one of his available astronauts and places this token on the next unoccupied space of the rocket field. The player who starts the expedition becomes the commander until his astronaut disembarks from the rocket or the rocket crashes.
- Travel Phase. The commander rolls all available dice and then groups them according to the results. The commander selects one or more groups of dice that match the values shown on the space mat next to the current location of the rocket marker. The rocket is advanced a number of spaces equal to the sum of the values of the selected dice. Used dice must be discarded, except for those with the afterburner symbol. The remaining dice become available to the commander in the next journey phase.
- Landing Phase. The expedition commander, and then the remaining players, decide whether their astronaut stays in the rocket and continues the expedition, or lands on the corresponding moon (which will immediately bring victory points) / the corresponding planet (which will bring victory points at the end of the game). If the rocket marker reaches deep space, all astronauts must disembark from the rocket and score victory points.
If the commander disembarks from the rocket, the player whose astronaut is next on the rocket field immediately becomes the new commander. He receives the unused dice. The new commander will now roll the dice and choose which ones to use in the travel phase.
The space expedition ends when all astronauts disembark from the rocket or the rocket crashes. A crash occurs if none of the dice match the values next to the current location of the rocket marker - in which case, you must advance the space failure token along the space failure track, remove the astronauts` rockets from the field, and end the space expedition. The player who started the expedition passes the rocket field to the player to his left - he will start the next expedition.
Game Over
The game ends after 11 failures or when any player has placed 8 of their astronauts on the space mat. Players count victory points (for landing on planets, moons, and deep space, as well as for completing objective tokens) – the participant with the most points wins!
After you have played the regular rules, you can use additional game modules in any combination – they will make the game a little more difficult and interesting.
