Marvel superheroes vs. Rhino, Klaw and Ultron
Iron Man and Black Panther team up to tame Rhino, who is rampaging through the streets of New York. Captain Marvel and Spider-Man fight Ultron, who seeks to destroy the Avengers. Players are invited to immerse themselves in the Marvel universe. In this cooperative card game, they will try to help the famous superheroes in their eternal fight against evil.
The base game features five heroes - Iron Man, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel and She-Hulk. In three scenarios, players can fight Rhino, Klaw or Ultron. Players can build their own decks from the base game cards and the following expansions.
Preparation for the game
Before the game begins, each player chooses a hero: takes their true identity/alter ego card, places their life value on the corresponding counter, and places their duty cards, nemesis cards, and encounter cards next to them. The assembled superhero deck is shuffled.
Players choose a supervillain they will fight and places their life points on their counter. They place the cards of their chosen supervillain and the scheme in the center of the table. Following the instructions of the scheme card, players create encounter decks by mixing the superhero duty cards with the supervillain cards. Players draw cards from their personal decks - the size of the hand is indicated on the card of the selected superhero.
Gameplay
The game consists of rounds, each round is divided into player and villain phases.
- Player phase
Participants take turns. On their turn, a player takes any number of actions as long as they have cards and resources:
- Change personality by flipping the hero card: from the real personality to the alter ego or vice versa (once per turn).
- Play a card from their hand. Having paid the cost in resources, the player places an ally/improvement/support card in their playing area. The card is placed vertically - in a ready state. The event card is discarded after the effect is applied.
- Use a basic superpower. Restore the hero`s hit points, apply a basic attack, defense, or counterpower. The player pays the cost, uses the superpower, and returns the hero card.
- Use a controlled ally (return a ready ally card) to attack an enemy or disrupt a plan.
- Activate an action (if conditions are met) on a controlled card, on an encounter card, or activate and play a card from their hand for the corresponding event.
- Allow another player to activate an action (if conditions are met) on a controlled card, or activate and play a card from their hand for the corresponding event.
The phase ends when all players have gone. Each player may discard any number of cards from their hand. Then everyone draws cards up to their hand limit.
- Villain Phase
- Place threat tokens on the scheme card. You must add the specified number of threat tokens. If the scheme card has more than or equal to the threat tokens indicated in the upper left corner, the scheme card is "advanced" (flipped over). When the final scheme card is "advanced", the participants are defeated.
- The villain and his minions are activated once for each player. Enemies add threats to the scheme card and attack the heroes.
- Players receive one encounter card and reveal it. The minion clings to the player, the betrayal card is discarded after the effect is applied, the accession card strengthens the villain, the side scheme card is placed next to the main scheme.
The game continues until the players defeat the villain by reducing his life points to 0 (participants win), or until the final scheme card is turned over (participants lose).
