Board Game Marrakech
A fast-paced logic game for the whole family
This game is perfect for family time; it appeals to children and adults, beginners and experienced players alike—and not just because of its beautiful rugs.
Players are transported to the rug market in Marrakech, Morocco. The figure of Assam, the market manager, is placed in the center of the game board (the market square). Participants receive 30 dirhams and a stack of rugs in their own color. The goal is to lay down as many of your rugs as possible—covering opponents` rugs in the process—and earn the most money.
Gameplay
Players take turns. The active player:
- Moves Assam
Before moving, the player may rotate Assam to the left or right (but not backward). Then, the player rolls the die and moves Assam in a straight line by a number of spaces equal to the number of slippers shown on the die. Upon reaching the edge of the board, Assam follows the arrows to continue moving.
- Pays an opponent
If Assam lands on an opponent`s rug, the active player must pay the rug`s owner. The player pays one coin for each connected space covered by a rug of that same color.
- Lays a rug
The player places a rug of their color next to the Assam figure.
One part of the rug must be placed orthogonally adjacent to the Assam pawn. The rug may cover:
- two empty spaces;
- one empty space and one half of any rug;
- two halves of rugs of different colors.
The turn passes to the next player.
End of the game
Play continues until the last rug has been placed. Players count the visible spaces covered by their rugs. Each such space is worth one point. 1 dirham is also worth one point. The player with the most points wins.
