Board Game Forest Shuffle
The bustling forest is home to many animals, insects, plants, and fungi. Each of them has its own preferences for the local habitat. Players will play the most effective combinations of flora and fauna cards to secure themselves with victory points.
Game play
In the center of the table is the Meadow Field, a stack of cards, and a landmark. Each player receives one cave card and 6 random cards from the deck.
On his turn, the active player can choose one of the following actions:
- take two cards from the deck or the clearing,
- play a card from his hand, paying its cost in cards, and place it in his forest playing area.
At the beginning of the game, there are no cards on the clearing, but all cards used to pay for the "Play a card" action are placed on the clearing field. In addition, each time a tree card is played, the player must take the top card from the deck and place it on the clearing.
The limit of cards in his hand is ten. If a player draws a winter card on his turn, he must reveal it and draw another card instead. The third revealed winter card immediately ends the game. The player with the most points on all visible cards in the forest, plus the sum of the cards placed in the player`s cave, wins.
Card placement rules
- Cards are divided into two types: trees and forest dwellers. By playing cards in front of them, players form a forest, the basis of which are trees. There are four cells to settle on the left, right, top and bottom of the tree card. Forest dweller cards always contain two species, the player chooses which one he wants to play and place next to the tree.
- If at any stage of the game a player does not have a suitable tree card in his hand, then he can play any face-down card with a sapling on its back. There are also four settlement spaces around the saplings, but they are not considered a specific tree type.
- Animal, plant, and mushroom cards are placed under the tree cards so that the selected inhabitant type is adjacent to the tree and the other inactive side of the card is covered. Some forest dwellers have immediate or permanent effects associated with a specific placement in the forest, or bonuses for the cost paid to draw a specific color of card.
