Board Game Meadow - Downstream

This is not a standalone game, but an add-on to the board game "Meadow".

Somewhere in the river, water is splashing... And then a dragonfly flew in... A frog croaks... When you want to go to the water, all the sounds and aromas of Meadow hint at rafting on a reservoir on this hot day... Shall we dive in? Let`s go with the flow!

This is a new journey along the coast of rivers, lakes and streams, which allows players to see amazing reservoirs and their inhabitants just from a boat. In search of inspiration, players will photograph new animals and plants, discover breathtaking landscapes and even find memorable souvenirs.

The confrontation on the river will strengthen the competitive spirit and the desire to win the title of the most skilled explorer, open up interesting opportunities and new ways to achieve their desired goals.

The expansion offers two game modes: «Quiet River» and «Stormy Rapids». Some components from the expansion are used in both modes.

Preparation for the game

The expansion assumes that the cards from envelope U ("Great Meetings") from the base game have been added to the game. Before playing any of the options, make sure that the cards from envelope U are shuffled into the appropriate decks. Remember the objective token with the deer symbol, which must be added to the objective token set.

What is included in the expansion?

This expansion contains a double-sided River board with designated spaces for River deck cards. Before starting, players must decide together which side of the board to use.

Each side has different game rules:

• «Quiet River» mode
• «Rush Rapids» mode

Each side of the board has two separate sections:

• You will move your boat along the river track. Moving the boat marker to a space with an action symbol will allow you to perform an additional action. The further you advance along the river track, the more victory points you will earn.
• You will place cards from the river deck on the river card area. There are recesses at the edges of this area of ​​the board. You will play your raft tokens (and «?» trail tokens) to get these cards.

Raft Tokens. In addition to the trail tokens from the base game, each player also receives a raft token. Unlike the trail tokens, this token allows you to perform only 1 type of action and can only be placed in a recess on the river field.

River Deck. This deck contains terrain cards, observations, views, and finds that are related to bodies of water. The rules for placing these cards are the same as the rules for the base game. Unlike the cards from the base game, the cards from the river deck do not give victory points. Instead, they have a paddle symbol at the bottom.

New starting terrain cards. Each player receives another double-sided starting terrain card (a reservoir). So everyone starts the game with 2 starting terrain cards.
