Board Game Ticket to Ride - Rails & Sails

This is a standalone game in the "Ticket to Ride" series of games, which offers not only building railway connections, but also laying waterways.

In this version, players have access to a double-sided playing field. On one side of it is a map on which you can travel around the world, and on the other - the territory of the Great Lakes of North America. In addition to the usual train car figures, players have access to miniatures of harbors and ships.

The basic rules of the game remain the same as in any other version. But thanks to the new type of means of transport and water areas, additional rules and the possibility of building completely new strategies appear in the game.

Waterways and their features

It seems clear to everyone that land tracks are usually laid out with train cars, and water highways need to be connected using ship figures. For this, a separate deck of cards with water vehicles has been added to the game.

Both decks (trains and ships) are not mixed together, but are placed separately. The market of 6 cards in the game remains common. At the beginning of the game, three cards from both decks are laid out on the table, but the active player can fill an empty spot on the market with a card from any deck.

Locomotive cards (jokers) remain only in the train deck. There are no such cards in the ship deck, but there are "double" cards that allow you to place 2 ships at once.

Another innovation is the choice of a limited number of components per game. At the beginning of the game, participants take 25 train figures and 50 ships, after which they are obliged to keep only 60 miniatures of them in any ratio. Thus, players aim for any strategy in advance. Of course, before that they receive route cards and try to start from the first tasks.

Building harbors, brings additional points for laying routes through them. 

Tourist routes

Another innovation concerns task cards. These cards may include Tour cards (tourist routes), which not only indicate which cities should be connected, but also in what sequence.

• If the player manages to completely build such a route in the required sequence, he will receive the maximum number of points indicated on the card.
• If at the end of the game the route is simply ready, the number of points will be reduced.
• If the route is not completed - the task card will bring penalty points.

The game gives a new experience in the beloved game by many, expanding the game possibilities and variations of winning strategies.
