Board Game Cubitos
A thrilling dice race with "luck test" and "pool building" mechanics.
Risky dice cross
Players are invited to travel to the dice world of Cubitos and take part in the annual cross-country race. Each player receives a runner token and a starting support team - "weak" light gray and dark gray dices. During the game, players will advance their runners along the track and purchase more advanced dice to use their effects to reach the finish line first.
The base game contains many sets of ability cards and 4 tracks - "All Up with a Drag", "Witnesses of Warp", "Droplet of Water" and "Dostobiisa of Water". Having taken the necessary components - chips, tablets, tokens, starting dice - players place their runners at the start. The first player receives the first player die, which does not count towards the dice limit.
Game progress
The game consists of rounds. In each round, players first play a rolling phase, and then a running phase. You can move at the same time.
- Rolling Phase
Each player moves from the reserve area on the board to the rolling area above the board as many dices as his dice limit. The initial limit is 9 dices. It is permanently increased by 1 for each hand token gained. The player also takes 1 dice for each red line on the track between his runner`s token and the leader`s token. If the reserve area runs out of dices, the player moves all his dices from the reset into it.
Each player rolls the taken dices. If at least 1 "success" (a non-empty face) is rolled, the player moves all "successes" to the active area. Then he can continue to check luck or pass. If he decides to save, he ends the rolling phase, keeping all the dice in the active area.
If the player decides to try his luck again, he rolls the remaining dice in the rolling area again. The player risks failing if there are already 3 dice in the active area and he has not rolled any "successes". When the player fails, he loses all the dice from the active area and moves them to the discard area. If the player has rolled at least 1 "success", he moves the dropped "successes" to the into the active zone and can save or check luck again.
- Run Phase
Players use abilities on the dropped dice faces in the active zone.
- Track. For each track symbol, you can move your runner 1 space on the track. Additional moves can be purchased with dropped coins and credits.
- Coins and credits. You can buy a maximum of two dice of different colors by spending dropped coins and credits. The purchased dice are placed in the discard zone.
- Swords. The player with the most swords on the dice rolled can use the special ability on the red card.
At the end of the running phase, all dice from the active area are moved to the discard area. The first player`s dice are passed to the next player clockwise.
Track tiles
Runner tiles can move to any tile except water tiles. Water tiles can only be moved to after using special abilities.
- Reward tiles. If a runner tile ends its move on such a tile, the player receives credits or takes a dice for free. A player can also get rid of a weak dice by cleaning their own slot.
- Shortcut. The player can move their runner to the corresponding cell on the field by spending coins or movement.
- Jetpack. When landing on this cell, the player doubles the number of remaining movement points (number of tracks).
End of the game
The game ends when someone`s runner reaches the finish line. If this is the only player, he becomes the winner. Otherwise, they look to see whose runner stopped further after crossing the finish line. If there is a tie again, another round is played.
