THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE COSASSACRES
A fascinating historical strategy dedicated to the great campaigns of the Zaporozhian Cossacks in the 16th-18th centuries. Players are invited to become atamans, move to the Sich and fight for the hetman`s mace. During the game, they will go on military campaigns to liberate and unite the Ukrainian lands. The hetman will be the most successful commander and diplomat who achieves the goals on the received hetman card and additional task cards - achievements, cities and settlements.
PREPARATION FOR THE GAME
At the beginning of the game, participants receive hetman cards - Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Ivan Mazepa, Petro Sahaidachny, Petro Doroshenko or Severyn Nalyvayko - and three additional task cards, of which they keep two for themselves. The hetman becomes the oldest player. Or it is proposed to determine the hetman randomly.
Players receive seven gold and four action cards - orders and/or disobedience. Order cards are played only by the hetman; all atamans who have joined him take one action card from the deck and receive the specified number of gold from the hetman. Disobedience cards allow them to disobey an order by paying the hetman a certain number of gold.
GAME PROCESS
The active hetman can perform one of two actions - renounce the hetman`s mace or play an order card. The hetman automatically renounces power if he has no order cards. On the played card, the hetman chooses the current order. The atamans take turns either joining the hetman or playing disobedience cards. If the hetman runs out of gold, he must renounce power. The hetman`s mace is always given to the richest ataman.
Campaigns of the Zaporozhian army are marked with red chips. Having played the card "Campaign" or "Raid", the hetman chooses the outermost chip on the field, from which the campaign will continue, and lists the cities and settlements through which the campaign will pass. The hetman places his seal on the captured city instead of a chip. Black chips are laid out when playing disobedience cards. Such chips block the path.
END OF THE GAME
The game ends when one of the players lays out all his campaign chips on the field. The round is played to the end. After that, the players reveal their secret task cards and receive victory points if they were successfully completed. Additionally, players receive points for captured cities and settlements. If a player has used all of their campaign tokens, they receive five points, and if not, they lose one point for each remaining token. The player with the most points is the winner.
