Fight for the Golden Carrot
In this board game, players will become rabbit lords and set out to conquer territories for the noble King Rabbit Long-Eared. Throughout the game, they will try to collect as many golden carrots as possible, the local equivalent of victory points.
The game mechanics combine card drafting and territory control. Over four rounds, players will select cards and play them to obtain resources and expand their possessions. At the end of each round, points are counted.
Game cards
The game has one hundred territory cards - exactly as many as there are squares on the board (10 by 10). In the corner of each territory card, the coordinates of the square on the board are indicated. Having played a territory card, the player places his rabbit on the corresponding cell. Territory cards are divided into fields (give carrots), forests (wood), seas (fish), mountains, plains and cities.
Building cards allow you to place city figures and farm, camp and sky tower tokens on controlled territories. Scroll cards are secret cards that bring golden carrots unconditionally or if the specified tasks are completed. There are also supply cards in the game that allow you to receive additional cards from the deck.
Game progress
The game lasts four rounds. Each round consists of the research, construction and harvesting phases.
Players select 2 cards from their hand, play them, and pass the remaining cards to their neighbors. From the cards they receive, they again choose and play 2 cards, and pass the remaining cards to their neighbors. This continues until all the cards have been dealt and played. The players place the played building cards in front of them and place cities/tokens on them. The players place the scroll cards face down in front of them.
Players move cities or tokens from their building cards onto the playing field. Building can only be done on their own territory, and it must be of the appropriate type. There can only be one building on one cell.
Players collect golden carrots in their fiefdoms. To do this, they multiply the strength of each fiefdom by its wealth. A fiefdom is a group of cells connected orthogonally. The strength of a fiefdom is the number of towers in cities, and wealth is the number of resources of various types that this fiefdom brings.
Revealing scrolls at the end of the game
At the end of the game, participants reveal secret scroll cards and obtain additional golden carrots for them. Treasures bring carrots without any conditions. And the number of golden carrots for an assignment depends on the controlled territories, fiefdoms, buildings, or other scroll cards. Players add up the golden carrots for scrolls with their current results. The player with the most golden carrots wins and earns the honorary title of "Big Ear."
