Board Game Ouch!

This board game will test your luck as you collect colorful cactus flowers: take a chance and grab a flower, hoping it doesn`t contain a thorn or something worse.

Gameplay

At the beginning of the game, you have to follow two simple setup steps:

1. Shuffle the entire deck and place it face down on the table.
2. Place the top 6 cards from the deck face down (flower side up) on the table.

If you are playing with young children, you can also remove the red flower cards from the deck and ignore some of the "evil" rules until the little ones get used to the game.

All players take turns. On your turn, you must open one of the guards on the table, and if you manage not to get pricked, add it to your flower collection.

The rules for opening a card are quite simple:

• Grab the card by one of its edges and, holding it, turn it over.
• If there are thorns on the back of the card from the edge you are holding it by, you must shout «Yo!» and drop the card into the box.
• If there are no thorns from the edge you are holding, you add the card to your collection. The more flowers you have in your collection at the end of the game, and the better bouquets (sets of flowers of different colors) you collect from them, the more victory points you will receive.
• If you haven`t been pricked, but the back of the card shows not flowers, but a desert animal, you can use its special effects on your turn. The Fennec allows you to immediately take an extra turn, and the snake gives you a card with flowers if the player pricks during the reveal.
• You will also encounter poisonous red flowers in the game: if you prick yourself during the reveal of such a card, you will be forced to discard one of the cards in your collection. However, at the end of the game, the collected red flowers bring additional points, so the risk is justified.
• At the end of the turn, place new cards from the deck up to six face down on the table.

Ending the game and determining the winner

As soon as the deck runs out, or any of the players has 8 or more cards in their collection, the game ends, and the final counting of victory points continues.

At the end of the game, you receive victory points for:

• Each collected flower - 1 VP;
• Collected wild bouquets - 4 VP additionally for each set of 4 flowers of different colors;
• Red flowers - only the player with the most red flowers receives 5 VP. In case of a tie, each contestant receives 5 VP.
