Board Game Townsfolk Tussle
This is a cooperative boss game set in the chaotic cartoon town of Yurkowy Vody.
Your goal — is to destroy the Rozbyshaks who are attacking Yurkowy Vody, each one stronger than the last! You will strengthen the townspeople with equipment, explore Yurkowy Vody and come up with unique strategies to defeat even more unique hooligans. The fate of the city is in your hands!
WELCOME TO YURKOVY VOD!
Believe it or not – the sheriff of Yurkowy Vody has been killed! Now there is no one to guard the city gates, so the Rozbyshak gangs are pouring into the city to take advantage of its defenseless position! Is this the end of Yurkowy Waters?
OF COURSE NOT!
In the game, you will play as part of a motley group of Townspeople who are doing their civic duty – sending these brazen troublemakers into oblivion. And who knows, one of you may be worthy of becoming the next sheriff! Can you defeat evil and protect Yurkowy Waters? We really hope so!
PREPARATION FOR THE GAME
- Place the main board on the table and place the additional board.
- Shuffle the City Events, Action and Shopkeeper`s Goods decks.
- Randomly choose 4 Thugs and place them on the City Map.
- Each player chooses a Townsman and takes the corresponding card, receives 10 Coins and the Townsman`s Starting Items.
- Place the corresponding Townsman tokens on the Battle/Buy track in the order of their choice.
Now you`re ready to start the game!
BASIC MECHANICS
Choosing a Townsman. Players begin the game by choosing a Townsman, each with their own unique quirks, stats, and starting Items. Some Townsman are more resilient than others, while others are more likely to benefit the party than the enemy. Don`t worry about your choice, as the Items you acquire along the way will allow you to change your playstyle.
Items.This is a key element of the game and the main way to strengthen your Townsman. Most of the time, Items change the Townsman`s stats or grant new abilities, turning the Townsman into a powerful killing machine!
City Phase. Each game consists of 4 rounds, which include a City Phase and a Combat Phase. If the Townsman can «eliminate» all 4 Outlaws that have invaded Yurkow Vody, they win!
Final Battle.The last Outlaw you will encounter will be harder to defeat than the others, as he will fight by his own rules during the Final Battle! But don`t lose faith! If you can defeat the Rogue, you win!
HOW TO PLAY
The game begins with the Town Phase, in which the Townspeople have the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming confrontation.
In the City Phase:
- Each Townsman draws up to 3 uncompleted Daring Deeds into his hand.
- Each Townsman in Purchase order draws a Town Event card, reads it aloud, and follows the instructions on it.
- Purchase at the Merchants.Place 10 cards from the Merchants deck on the City Phase space. Each player may buy or sell one item on their turn.
- Prepare for battle!Once all Townsman have finished shopping, place all unpurchased goods at the bottom of the Merchants deck and proceed to the Battle Phase.
In the Battle Phase:
Once the City Phase is complete, the Battle Phase begins! You have one mission – Defeat the Rogue!
Each Rogue is located in a specific area of the City, as indicated on the back of its card. This determines the terrain’s obstacles and advantages, as well as the starting positions of the Townspeople.
- Locations can greatly influence your strategy for defeating the Rogue. Some locations hinder movement, while others can create favorable conditions if used wisely.
- During the Battle Phase, the Rogue and Townspeople take turns, moving through the terrain and attempting to «break» each other.
- During the Rumbler`s turn, all you need to do is play and discard the next card in the Rumbler`s Action deck.
- On your turn, the Townspeople have a lot to choose from! They can move, interact with Places, use Item properties, use Abilities, and attack. Townspeople can perform these actions in any order, as long as they have the courage and movement to do so.
- Players lose if all Townspeople are knocked out during combat or if all remaining Townspeople are removed from the field without being able to return. If this happens, the game is over!
The Last Stand
The Townsman with the highest total number of Daring Deeds (NOT the number of Deeds) is appointed as the new Sheriff! The new Sheriff receives a unique Item that can help during the Last Stand.
Each Last Stand can have 3 different endings: one for winning, one for losing, and one more if you completed a Special Task. After the battle, read the corresponding result to find out the end of your adventure!
