Board Game AI - Space Puzzle
Space Deduction with a Malfunctioning AI
This is an exciting cooperative deduction game with different levels of difficulty and nice high-quality components. In the game, most of the participants will be earthlings evacuated on spaceships, and one of the players will take on the role of an artificial intelligence that has partially malfunctioned. Beep-boop!
There was an accident on your spaceship — the reactor is about to explode! The task of the artificial intelligence — using limited means of communication, help the astronauts repair the spaceship. Astronauts will analyze the information received from the AI and try to get into the right cabins with the correct security keys.
The game contains many scenarios of different difficulty levels, each of which will offer players new challenges, and the fact that you will create a new playing field each time will make each game unique.
Basic concepts
- Cabins. The game uses a total of 16 cabin tiles, each of which depicts a unique combination of symbols. Each game you will randomly create a playing field from cabin tiles with a square of 4⨯4.
- Final combinations. The final combination cards define the conditions that the astronauts (with the help of the AI) must achieve to win, namely the required astronaut colors on certain cabin tiles and the security key symbols with each astronaut. The final combination is visible only to the AI player.
- Communication tokens. Using communication tokens, the number of which will be determined by the scenario you choose, the AI player will create certain messages with encrypted clues or instructions for the astronauts.
- Keyboard. On the keyboard, the astronauts will indicate information they know, as well as the number of rounds.
Game overview
The game lasts a certain number of rounds. The goal of the game — correctly place the astronauts on the playing field and match their colors with the security keys as shown on the final combination card. The only allowed way for the AI and the astronauts to communicate is by sending messages using communication tokens.
Each round consists of two phases:
- AI Phase. The AI player decides what message to send to the astronauts based on the information on the final combination card and their previous actions. He arranges the communication tokens behind the screen in a certain way to convey this or that information to the astronauts. After that, the AI removes the screen and shows the message to the astronauts.
- Astronaut Phase. The astronauts collectively decide how to interpret the AI`s message and perform actions, the number of which is determined by the scenario, such as: moving an astronaut to another cabin, placing a new astronaut on the field, removing an astronaut from the field or changing the value of a die (they are used in some scenarios). Anything the astronauts do on the key pad is not considered an action, it can be done at any time during the astronaut phase.
At the end of their phase, the astronauts move the round marker on the key pad, the AI can start preparing the next message.
End of the game
The game ends when the astronauts have played their final combination. Players compare their results with the final combination card, and if each security key is marked with the correct color and all astronauts of the correct color are placed in the correct cabins, the players win. The game also ends if the specified number of rounds is reached, in which case they also have to compare their results with the final combination and win or lose accordingly. Boop-beep!
