Board Game Finspan
This is a strategic board game in which players will embark on a world of underwater research, where they will become leaders of scientific expeditions exploring the ocean depths in search of valuable fish species. To gain victory points during the game, they will need to find rare fish specimens, form new schools, and raise fry, effectively distributing their resources.
Gameplay and basic rules
The goal of the game is to create the best ecosystem of different fish species. Players must monitor their development, gaining points through various game mechanisms such as fish reproduction and resource management. The game lasts four rounds, each of which includes several phases:
Phase 1: Selecting Fish Cards. Each player selects one of the fish cards from their hand or from the open deck available to all players. The selected card can be added to your ecosystem or used for another action.
Phase 2: Place Cards. After selecting a card, the player places it on their ocean playmat in one of the ecosystems or saves it for future use.
Phase 3: Perform Actions. After all players have placed their fish cards, they can perform one of the available actions:
- Fish Breeding: moving fish cards to new ecosystems or adding new individuals to existing ones.
- Egg Collection: obtaining egg tokens that can be used for various strategic actions.
- Ecosystem Development: increasing the number of fish in your ecosystem, which can bring additional points.
Phase 4: End of Round. After all players have completed their actions, each receives bonuses depending on which ecosystems were developed, how many eggs were collected, and which special cards were used. After that, the cards are discarded and the next round begins.
Special cards. Allow you to interact with other players, changing their resources or influencing their strategies. For example, you can force your opponent to give up some of their fish cards or take away their fish eggs.
Card trading: Players can negotiate to trade fish cards or other resources.
At the end of the Fish Land game, players add up their points for:
- Ecosystems: Points are awarded for each type of fish in the ecosystem and the number of fish of that type;
- Frys and eggs;
- Bonuses: Some cards provide bonuses for fulfilling certain conditions (for example, the best ecosystem or the largest number of fish spawned).
The player with the most points after 4 rounds wins. In the event of a tie, the player with the most fish cards in hand at the end of the game wins.
