Humanity has crossed the line of ecological disaster, and a new type of pollutant spreading across the planet threatens to wipe out all life from the surface of the Earth... But separate groups of people who survived in remote forests restore natural resources and strive to save nature! In the board game "Tribes of the Wind" you will become the leader of the last settlers, collecting resources, building new structures in the treetops and trying to resist the ubiquitous pollution.
Blooming apocalypse
This is a build-your-own-tabletop space-puzzle and resource-management Eurostrategy featuring detailed and colorful illustrations by Vincent Dutre.
The game has asymmetric player tablets, each of which has a different initial task according to the instructions of the settlement leader. In addition, the starting conditions will differ for players and according to the turn sequence, because each player, starting from the first, will receive a different starting tile with special effects and the color of the forest.
Goal of the game
The player with the most Victory Points (VP) at the end of the game wins. However, the thematic conditions for obtaining software in Tribes of the Wind with a combination of building a driver thanks to new maps, buildings and tiles and interaction with natural resources are worth special attention.
Victory points are counted at the end of the game. They can be obtained for:
- First place in the construction of five villages;
- The number of pollution-free zones on the tablet;
- The number of forest tiles laid out on the tablet;
- The number of built settlements and completed village tasks;
- The number of erected temples.
Game flow
The game will last several rounds until one of the players builds the fifth village on the board. Immediately after that, the next in line participants must make their moves until the end of the round, after which the final calculation of PO continues.
The player`s progress consists of two stages:
- Execution of one of the three actions to choose from.
- Selection of up to five element cards. The cards of the player`s elements are placed vertically on a special stand.
For the action, the player can:
- Play an element card. Each of these cards has a specific effect that will allow players to remove pollution tokens from their board, gain and place forest tiles, move wind riders, gain water tokens, or build a settlement by spending a certain amount of water. Each element card also has requirements: some require you to have a certain number of element cards in your hand, others require you to count all the element cards in the other players` supply racks, etc. Important Note: Windriders move only between adjacent zones. Adjacent to the capital is exclusively the initial tile. One movement point allows you to move one rider on one tile. You can move one figure the corresponding number of tiles forward, or divide the movement between several riders.
- Build a village. If one of the forest tiles has as many windriders as there are corresponding cells on it, you can spend an action to build a settlement. Turn the tile with the village side up, return the number of Wind Riders required for construction to the "stock" to the capital, and also receive a building bonus and a map with the village`s task. Fulfilling the conditions of this card will result in victory points at the end of the game. These tasks usually indicate exactly how tiles, towns, and temples should be placed on your tablet. If you have completed the village map challenge, place it under the left side of your tablet so that only the left half of it is visible. Also, the construction of a village can lead to additional pollution. In this case, you must place a certain number of pollution tokens on adjacent horizontal or vertical cells of the tablet.
- Build a temple. To do this, you need to discard three elemental cards without applying their effects. To do this, you must select any temple marker in the corresponding area of your board and place it on a forest tile without a temple symbol on it. Once you have laid out a temple, you get the bonus listed in the cell in the temple area where you took the token from.
- Perform an additional action from the leader card. If you complete one or both leader tasks from your tablet during a turn, you receive a leader card for each completed task. You can complete the task of the leader only once per game. The received leader card should be placed under the tablet on the right so that only the action available to you is visible. You can now apply this card`s effect by expending an action during your turn.
The board game offers players to plunge into a dynamic confrontation with the development of their tablets with a choice of actions that depends on the current situation in the game not only on the player`s field, but also on other participants, as well as using resource management , exhibiting and moving workers and collecting patterns, which adds a spatial puzzle to the Eurostrategy. Accessible rules and asymmetrical player options, which, however, are very balanced, make the game very worthy of a place in the collection of connoisseurs of light Euro.
