Board Game Hens
If you have been thinking about getting a chicken for a long time, so that every morning you will be greeted by the crowing of a rooster and scrambled eggs, we recommend that you first try your hand at a quick card game.
This is a family filler with elements of collecting sets, in which players have to collect a collection of chicken families of different species.
Preparing a yard for a chicken coop
At the beginning of the game, all the bird cards are shuffled, the participants receive 4 cards and one "Rooster" token. Four goal cards are also placed on the table.
The task of the players is to lay out 3 by 4 cards on the table in front of them in order to earn as many victory points as possible for the largest group of chickens of the same color. Completing the tasks on the objective cards also gives additional victory points.
Rules for a novice farmer
The gameplay is quite simple and can be mastered after the first game. Players take turns and perform only three actions:
- Take 2 cards from the general deck (or other players` discards),
- Place one card on the table in their "chicken coop",
- Discard a card from their hand.
Bird cards are placed on the table according to the rules:
- A chicken of one species can be placed next to another without any restrictions.
- The number on the card of another species must be 1 more or less than the value on the adjacent card.
- A player can place a card face up, ignoring the placement rules. At the end of the game, such cards will be worth 1 victory point each.
When the sixth bird card appears on the table, the player can place the "Rooster" token. At the end of the game, the type of chicken indicated by the token will also be taken into account in calculating victory points.
When all players have placed 12 birds in their coop, the game ends, and the participants begin counting the total number of points received for the game.
