A fast-paced dueling strategy with territory control mechanics.
The game takes players to the geisha street of Hanamikoji in the old imperial capital of Japan. The street is home to 7 beautiful geishas, each with their own talents - poetry, music, dancing, etc. Players compete for their favor, collecting the props they need for their performances. This exciting dueling filler will appeal to both beginners and experienced players. It is especially good to play while having tea with your significant other.
Fight for the hearts of geishas
From a mechanical point of view, the game is a control of territories, where geishas are the same territories for which players gain victory points. For each geisha, a tug-of-war is waged. If at the end of the round a player scores 11 charm points or gains the favor of 4 geishas at once, he wins the game. Otherwise, another round is played.
The game lasts for a maximum of three rounds. At the beginning of the game, 7 geisha cards are laid out in a row in ascending order from left to right. 1 favor marker is placed on each card. Each player takes a set of 4 action tokens and places them in front of him with the colored side up (face up).
Game progress
Each round consists of 4 phases.
Phase 1. Dealing cards
A random item card is drawn from the deck (it cannot be looked at until the end of the round) and placed in a box. Then the deck is shuffled. Players receive 6 cards each.
Phase 2. Actions
Players take turns. On their turn, a player flips one of their face-up action tokens and performs the corresponding action.
Phase 3. Scoring
When each player has completed 4 of his actions, scoring begins. Each player reveals a card under their secret token and places it on their side of the geisha row opposite the corresponding geisha. The players then compare the number of item cards on both sides of each geisha.
If there are more item cards on one side than on the other, the player with the most cards gains the geisha`s favor. They move the favor token to their side. If there are equal or no item cards on both sides of the geisha, the favor token STAYS IN PLACE (this is important for subsequent rounds).
After moving the favor tokens, the players count the total number of charm points from the geishas whose favor they have gained.
Phase 4. Update
Shuffle all the item cards from the table and the box. The favor tokens remain in place. Both players turn their action tokens face down.
Game End
The game ends immediately if one of the players has gained the favor of 4 geishas or has scored at least 11 charm points. If only one player has fulfilled the victory condition, then he wins. Sometimes, if one player has gained the favor of 4 geishas and the other has scored 11 (or more) charm points in the same round, then the player who scored 11+ charm points wins.
A subtle psychological game
This is a deep and subtle psychological game with a thoughtful and unusual "inside out" strategy. In this game, strong cards in your hand are not a guarantee of victory, but sometimes a headache, because the opponent chooses the cards first. Players will have to conduct a real detective investigation into the cards in their opponent`s hand, and then present them with an uncomfortable choice, while providing them with almost no useful information about their own cards.
