Board Game Golem
Rabbi Leo`s Clay Creation
According to a not-so-old legend, in 1584 a gigantic creature appeared on the streets of Prague, on whose forehead every connoisseur of Kabbalah could read a single word - "Truth". One rabbi thought that he could protect his flock with the help of a clay statue, which could be brought to life by putting the word of God into it.
And the thought became a reality, and the golem came to life. Ready to carry out the orders of its creator without doubts, without complaints and without demands. But... Every creature strives for freedom. Did Rabbi Lev realize what could happen if one day the golem did not carry out the next order?
Golem
Before you is a complex strategy in which participants will build their own game engine. They will take on the role of rabbis who have not only learned how to create golems, but also to endow them with various abilities that will certainly come in handy and make life easier for the flock.
But quite often, for reasons that are not entirely clear, some clay idols begin to malfunction. To reduce the possible destructive consequences, each golem is assigned a student who corrects its actions. And if a golem becomes too powerful, it can become a real threat to its creators, so sometimes the stormy creatures have to be destroyed!
The game lasts for four rounds, each of which consists of 7 consecutive phases:
- Preparation. Players update the marbles in the synagogue, the available action tiles, and the tomes on the library shelves.
- Moving the golems. The golems move against your will. Do your best to prevent them from reaching the right edge of the street, as in this case you will lose the treasured OPs.
- Actions. This is the main phase, during which players take turns performing 1 of 3 possible actions. Once per phase, you can place your rabbi on one of the available action tiles and apply its effect. Twice per phase, you can take a marble and activate it. The color of the ball will determine how one of your students will move and what additional capabilities you will receive.
- Determining the order of turns. The placement of your rabbis will determine who will go first in the next phase and beyond.
- Influential character. During each round, various characters will be available to players, and it is in this phase that you can use the services of one of them.
- Income. Get everything you should and can get. Now you can make one improvement.
- Control the golem. The knowledge you have accumulated will come in handy, as it will help to correct the golem`s movement, which may get out of control of the student responsible for it.
At the end of the last round, players score victory points for live and destroyed golems, collected artifacts and studied tomes, as well as for improvements on their game boards and completed objective cards. The player with the most achievements wins.
Marbles
At the beginning of each round, the participants randomly distribute the marbles into five rows. During the action phase, when a player takes a marble, he can do one thing according to the row in which the marble he chose was:
- Work. By spending the appropriate amount of knowledge, you can activate your golem, which is currently on the streets of Prague, and receive the corresponding bonuses.
- Golem. Obtain clay to create new golems or obtain new improvements on your game board.
- Artifact. Obtain coins to buy gold and create powerful artifacts.
- Spell. Obtain knowledge to cast various spells.
- Mirror. Perform any of the above actions by paying 1 coin.
The color of the ball you take will determine which of your students you can move forward along the corresponding street. This, in turn, will affect how well that student will control the golem under his command.
