Board Game Frostpunk

This is a large-scale cooperative game in a post-apocalyptic steampunk world of eternal winter. This is a deeply developed adaptation of the 2018 survival simulator video game of the same name.

Frosty Trouble

Players are transported to Victorian England at the end of the 19th century. Steam engines allow you to dynamically explore new technologies in various industries, one of which is giant steel monsters on steam engines. 

As a result of an incomprehensible catastrophe and a decrease in solar activity, the temperature on the planet decreases in various ways, and the merciless cold climate makes it difficult for the population to survive. The government decides to develop a Generator that will heat the area around – a giant furnace that emits heat into the atmosphere.

So, we recommend dressing warmer and getting ready for real crisis management.

Gameplay

Players control meeples – engineers, workers and children, and they all need to be protected from harsh events and phenomena, and maintain their activity, health, and psychological state. Controlling the morbidity and mortality of the community is perhaps the most important aspect of the game.

At the beginning of the game, you need to choose a scenario, which will determine the number of rounds, tasks, and the main goal of the game. Each round consists of 9 phases:

• Morning Phase – players play an event card.
• Generator Phase – players replenish coal needs and control the load to prevent the generator from exploding.
• Weather Phase – changing weather conditions affect the passability of routes.
• Preparation Phase – choosing an advisor and resolving diseases.
• Action Phase – players send meeples to explore regions, gather resources, build, pass laws, develop technologies, search for survivors, and expeditions. When leaving the heating zone, meeples catch diseases.
• Evening Phase – resolving conflicts in society.
• Famine Phase – controlling the track and feeding meeples.
• Shelter Phase – Meeples hide in heated rooms until the next round.
• Night phase – Meeples outside the shelter get sick.

There are many options for population decline in the game (from rebellion to famine, or a repeated generator explosion), as well as emotions that you will experience during the game: from difficult moral decisions to heartbreak. But to win, it is enough to simply SURVIVE in this crazy atmospheric whirlwind.
