The future of the Imperium is in your hands!
What was once a blood feud between the feuding Great Houses has become something more. From humble smugglers to the Bene Gesserit Sisters and the Emperor himself - everyone now plays a role in determining the future of the Imperium. However, one thing is certain: whoever controls the spice industry controls the universe...
This is a standalone game that expands on the core gameplay of Dune - Imperium, which involves building and placing workers. You will continue to balance military might and political intrigue, using new tools to achieve victory, and spies will contribute to your plans.
The game is based on events and characters from both the original Dune book series by Frank Herbert, Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson, and the new film from Legendary Pictures.
This game can be combined with the base game Dune: Imperium and the expansions Immortality and Rise of X. (see the rules booklet for details), and also includes rules for a six-player game.
Factions
The game features four factions representing powerful forces in Dune and other parts of the Imperium. Increasing your influence and forming alliances with one or more of these forces is one of the key ways to win the game.
- House of Corrino. Shaddam IV of House Corrino is the ruthless Emperor of the known universe. Through joint raids, you can become rich, as well as receive reinforcements from him - his elite army of Sardaukar.
- Pilots` Guild. The Pilots` Guild has a monopoly on interstellar travel. Their large highliners will deliver a considerable amount of supplies and your troops to Dune, if you can pay the high price in spices they charge for their services.
- Bene Gesserit. The intrigues and machinations of the Bene Gesserit Sisters and their visible and invisible planning affect the fate of the Imperium for generations to come.
- Fremen. The harsh landscape of Dune has transformed the Fremen into fierce warriors. You can try to befriend them to harness the power of the desert and learn how to lead the sandworms into battle.
Other formations and locations:
- Landsraad. The Emperor presides over the Landsraad, the governing body representing the Great Houses of the Imperium. It is clear that solariums help to establish connections, help to gain favor or gain a permanent strategic advantage.
- DAPT The Good Alliance of Progressive Traders – a large commercial organization that covers the entire Imperium. By fulfilling their trade contracts, you will earn solariums, and by selling them spices, you will be able to strengthen important political alliances.
- Populated areas The dunes play an important role in conducting any military campaigns, as in most of these places you can gather troops. Some locations are protected from sandworms by a powerful Defensive Wall made of solid stone.
- Deserts It is in the deserts of Dune that you will extract the most valuable substance in the Imperium - melange spice. However, the deserts are also home to giant sandworms.
Gameplay
Each round of the game consists of five consecutive phases:
- Start of the Round. Each round begins with the top card of the conflict deck being revealed. Each player then draws 5 cards from their deck to form their hand for the round.
- Player Turns. On your turn, you can send an agent or reveal cards. Typically, you will take turns sending agents until you run out of cards, then take the "Reveal Cards" turn. In this phase, you can play any of your Intrigue Plan cards.
- Combat. Each player takes a reward from the conflict card based on their strength on the combat track. After all rewards have been distributed, each player removes their units from the Conflict Zone and places them in their supply.
- Profit. During this phase, the production locations may accumulate spices. Examine each location on the board with a production symbol. If there is no agent in the location, place 1 spice from the general supply in that location (in the space provided for this purpose). These spices are added to any spices remaining in those locations from previous rounds.
- Recall. If any player has scored 10 or more victory points on the point track or if the conflict deck runs out, the end of the game is activated. If no one has won, prepare for the next round.
