Board Game Decrypto. Anniversary Edition

ANNIVERSARY EDITION

To mark the anniversary of one of the best word-deciphering games, this edition features a stylish new look in muted gold tones. Inside the box, you will find 440 brand-new words that can be played on their own or combined with the first edition.

While the game components and rules remain unchanged, the deck of new keywords will be a delightful discovery for long-time fans and new code-breakers alike.

CODENAME DECODER

An innovative party game that serves as a major competitor to the immensely popular "Codenames".

GAME SETUP

Players divide into teams and sit on opposite sides of the table. Each team places a screen in front of them and inserts four keyword cards into it. They also take a deck of code cards (resembling floppy disks) in their team`s color, along with recording sheets.

OBSTACLES AND INTERCEPTIONS

Throughout the game, the "codemakers" (cryptographers) on each team convey numerical codes to their teammates by creating associated words, while the opposing team attempts to decipher these codes. If the opponents successfully intercept a code, they receive an "interception token." If a team fails to decipher their own codemaker`s code, they receive an "obstacle token." A team wins if they collect two interception tokens, and loses if they receive a second obstacle token.

GAMEPLAY

At the start of each round, the codemakers from each team draw a card from the code deck, match the numbers to the keywords displayed on their screens, and come up with associated words, writing them down on their sheets.

The codemaster from one team reads out their associations, and both teams (their own and the opponents) attempt to guess the code.

The opposing team guesses the three-digit code first, followed by the codemaster`s own team. After hearing both guesses, the codemaster reveals the code card. At this point, teams may receive interception or interference tokens. The second half mirrors the first, with the codemaster from the opposing team now providing the associations.

END OF THE GAME

The game ends if, at the conclusion of any round, a team holds two interception tokens or two interference tokens. In the former case, the team wins; in the latter, they lose. If neither team has won or lost by the end of the eighth round, the game ends in a draw.
