The Amazing Black Sea

A light salty breeze drives clouds that look like cotton candy across the sky. Here, sandpipers hunt for strange insects, nearby crabs hide under piles of stones, and foamy sea waves crash against the shore and wash shells onto the sand... Welcome to the Black Sea!

This is a brilliant game in its simplicity. For a game, you only need wooden tokens that you will find inside a bag. However, behind the simple rules lies a fierce competition and a lot of strategic opportunities. What is the secret? The secret is in the powerful effects of various tokens that will allow you to do amazing things.

Thanks to its compactness and almost weightlessness, the game is easy to take with you anywhere. And not just take, but play literally anywhere, because the components are waterproof, and no wind will blow away the wooden tokens. For lonely travelers, the game offers solo mode rules.

Gameplay overview

Imaginarily divide the space between the players into two parts - the blue sea (the central part) and the white coast (the part in front of each participant). Determine the first player in any way, for example, let the player who last walked barefoot along the seashore start.

Players take turns clockwise. On your turn, draw a token from the bag, secretly look at it, choose a side and apply the appropriate effect. Once you choose a side, you cannot change it until the end of the game. After applying the token effect, you end your turn, passing the bag to the player on your left. 

Token Effects

There are two types of tokens in the game - blue-sided, which you throw into the sea, and white-sided, which you place on your coast.

• Isopod, Shell, and Crab. When you choose an isopod, shell, or crab, place the token in the sea and immediately take another turn.
• Sandpiper. When you choose an isopod, shell, or crab, place it on your coast, take any number of isopods from the sea, and place them under the sandpiper token. Be careful though, if you then create a new stack of sandpipers, you will have to take the same number of isopods from the sea to keep both stacks on the shore. If one of them is larger than the other, the smaller stack will have to be discarded.
• Beach. When you choose a beach, place it on your shore, then take as many shells from the sea as there are beaches on your shore.
• Wave. When you choose a wave, place it on your shore, flip one of your beaches (you can look at the flips of your beaches before choosing) and immediately apply the flip beach effect.
• Stone. When you choose a stone, place it on your shore. Stones only have effects in pairs – the first stone has no immediate effect, and the second creates a crab habitat. Take all the crabs from the sea, as well as one crab of your choice from another player, and place them on your coast.

End of the game

Once the bag is empty, the game ends. The player with the most waves takes all the tokens from the sea. Stack all the tokens from your coast and compare it with the other players` stacks. The player with the highest stack wins!
