Witch

In her evil form, the witch appears as a dangerous and powerful creature capable of causing significant damage to people and their farms. She can transform into animals, such as a black cat or an owl, and appear at night, when her magical power is strongest. A witch in this form can send disease, crop failure, cause a storm or hail in the fields, as well as take milk from cattle or bring harm to a person. Wicked witches often performed their dark rituals at crossroads or in forest thickets, using various magical items and spells. It was believed that they are able to cast spells with the help of herbs, potions, and even parts of the body of animals or people. They could wreak havoc on a person, causing failure, illness, or even death. They were especially afraid of their "evil eye" — the ability to cast spells or attract trouble with just one look.

An evil witch is able to enter the house in the form of a fog or an invisible spirit, causing harm to sleeping people, especially children. She could cause nightmares, take life energy or even steal souls. It was believed that her sorcery could be transmitted through food, drink or objects on which she cast her spells.
They protected themselves from evil witches with the help of garlic, which was placed on windowsills and doors. Crosses were drawn with chalk on doors and windows, and iron objects such as horseshoes were placed under the threshold to create a barrier. The house and yard were sprinkled with holy water. Herbs such as wormwood and St. John`s wort were used to scare away the witch. They tried not to leave the house at night and avoided contact with the witch so as not to fall under her spell.
