Gamayun
Gamayun is a mythical creature originating from ancient Russian and East Slavic mythology, also known in some Ukrainian folk tales. Gamayun is usually depicted as a bird with a female face or a bird with human features. She is associated with wisdom, prophecy and knowledge of the secrets of the universe, and also plays the role of a messenger of divine will.
Gamayun lives on islands far to the east, outside the human world. She is considered a messenger of the gods who brings prophecies and knowledge. Her chant or song contains hidden truths about the future, the fate of the world, and the fate of individuals. Sometimes Gamayun prophesies misfortune, war or natural disasters, which makes her both wise and formidable.
