Blud

Fornication in Ukrainian demonology is a spirit associated with inconstancy, betrayal, temptation and disorder. His image is associated with wandering souls who remained in the world of the living because of sins or unresolved cases. Fornication symbolizes moral decay and lack of purpose in life.

It often appears as a formless shadow or an incomprehensible image that causes fear and anxiety. A particularly common myth is that Blud takes the form of lights that glow in the dark, luring travelers and misleading them. These "wandering lights" can appear at night in swamps or forests, tempting people to follow them and get lost.

According to legend, Blood is an evil spirit thrown from the sky, which hangs in the air and clings to travelers, causing them to lose their orientation even on familiar paths. And in unfamiliar places, travelers risk encountering even greater dangers, such as devils or werewolves waiting for them.

To protect themselves from the influence of the Fornication, people turned to prayer, performed purification rites, or wore amulets. It was believed that good intentions, sincerity in relationships and adherence to moral standards could help avoid the temptations that this spirit brings.
